It's 5:18. Do you know where your pillow is?

It's 5:18. In case you hadn't gathered that from the title of this post. Actually, I'm lying. It's now 5:19. Why my obsession with the time this fine evening? Well, a few reasons. One, is that this is technically no longer the evening...it's 5:19 a.m., but since I've yet to go to sleep, I feel I can still consider this "evening." Another, is that today marks the last day of my life where I will be required to do any schoolwork. My last college final ever is in approximately 7 hours. Which is good, because I still have 2 novels to read and not-so-short short story. It's also bad, because, as previously mentioned, I have yet to go to sleep. I've tried, don't get me wrong. I've watched the one movie that will always knock me out no matter what (The Emperor's New Groove). I've had cups of "tension tamer" tea. Nothing. Nada. Zip. No results whatsoever. I even tried reading one of the novels that will be featured on tomorrow's final--a sure show-stopper, even on the most caffinated days. Again, I'm empty handed. Or rather, my bed is. I've been from the bed, to the couch, to the computer, to the couch, to the bed, to the computer...you get the idea.

Now, before you get all, "aw, how cute, she's nervous about her last final," let me set the records straight. I'm not nervous at all. If I were, I would have been reading these books long before now. Oh no, it's not nerves keeping me up. It's unlabeled caffeine that's the cause of my new-found night owl status. Yup. Caffeine ladies 'n gents, it's a bitch. I began my day with iced chai tea. Okay, I expected a little caffeine in that, but it wasn't from Starbucks (where lets face it, even the decaf drinks could shock Juan Valdez), so I thought I was in the clear. 8 p.m. Impending migraine. Solution? Excedrin Migraine. BAD SOLUTION. Migraine? Gone. Excessive caffeine in teeny tiny little pill? Still working it's damn magic.

So where does that leave me? Well, it leaves me posting to you fine folks at the ass crack of dawn. 2 movies watched and me none-the-sleepier. 1/2 a novel read and me bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. 8 pages notes studied and me no closer to dozing than I was when I woke up at 11 yesterday morning.

Moral of the story? Hidden caffeine is a bitch. Lack of creativity past 2 a.m. does not stop me from posting, despite the fact that this little rant is missing the usual hilarity, wit, sarcasm, and, well, I'll be honest, style, of most of my others. That aside, I hope you've enjoyed it. I also hope that it gives you something to read if you're ever in my position. Bored to tears, bored to death, but not quite bored enough to pass out for a few hours.

hi there,
i got your message. i too am a PSU grad. i too married my college man.
i too lived in lewistown from the ages of 2- 10. incredible, right?

also, i too have had the pleasure...? of hidden caffeine. (it's in midol too.)
but to counter the effects, take benedryl or something with diphenhydramine in it. you can take it safely with acetaminophen. yay.

( i know you posted this long ago, but wanted to put in a helpful tip in case it ever happens again.)
